81000D Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 Like the title says, will four fit in a ported non wall box and still keep second row seats?? Will be tuned to 35hrz. Thnx in advance.
Wasteland_Audio Posted May 3, 2016 Report Posted May 3, 2016 yes, as long as your port doesn't take up too much of the box volume. You would need around 24cuft to get the most out of them. personally i would just wall it off behind the 2nd row if i had 4 18s but it is possible to put that size box in the rear of a tahoe. are you looking to do comps with them?
Karkov Posted May 3, 2016 Report Posted May 3, 2016 You would have room but not much room for anything else depending how high you went with the box. I have a 2007 tahoe and i can slide in 49" box but pretend you make one at 48", then from the hatch to the back seat (front to back, and the top of seat so the narrowest part) is 42", but subtract say 6" for area outside port, then with height you got a LOT of room, height of the back seat is about 27" so pretend 48x36x27=46,656 divided by 1728 =27 cubes but that is NOT including box wall thickness, port displacement, drive displacement (woofer), or bracing displacement. Not only that but you would have almost no room for amp/batteries 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. Not only that but you would have almost no room for amp/batteries I agree, building the box with enough volume for those subs will leave you with almost no room for anything else, it will be so tall that you won't have any rear visibility, and honestly won't sound as good as if you built a wall. I have a suburban with a 12cuft box and it would barely squeeze into a tahoe (49x38x19 O.D.), add another say 10 inches to that to maybe get close to 24cuft and there goes your entire rear glass behind it. Basically what i'm trying to say is that to put this much system in anything, you have to dedicate the vehicle to just the system, you might as well go all the way and do a wall.
Dan2427 Posted May 3, 2016 Report Posted May 3, 2016 When I did this in my 03 Denali awhile back I had 2 g31's under second row seat laying flat and 3 in the back with my AQ20 and AQ3500 mounted on back seat. Not at the same time of course but it fit with about 4-5" to rear hatch and I had a 4" port across the whole bottom of the box so 45" or so across can't recall how deep at the moment. I believe the newer Tahoe/Denali has quite a bit less room under seats tho 2003 GMC Yukon Denali Alpine CDA 117 Redoing Mids/Highs 4 Runs of 1/0 Knukonceptz 2+, 2- 4 Deka 9A31's in back (Stock underhood) 250 amp Alt.
