RainStryke
Then i'd recommend something like this: http://www.droppinhzcaraudio.com/twisted-sounds-ts600-600w-monoblock-bass-amplifier/ Would probably get you about the same power you were all ready getting. Hotrod66
Sorry to bring back a 2 week old thread. I picked up a used mtx ta7801 that has some cosmetic issues, (knob cover plate has a broken corner and some scratches) but I hooked it up and it bangs! Question is, I only have a 4 gauge wire and stock electrical with big 3. How much am I holding this amp back? Anyone know where I can get a new cover? Budget builds are fun too. Wehan
You probably aren't going to find a cover plate short of an ebay miracle. You are not holding that amp back any. you should be fine so long as your battery and alternator are good.
Efreakingt
Factory manual indicates at least 4 guage or better for power. Should be ok but I couldn't find the fuse rating.
Hotrod66
2 more questions, I have the gain set at little more than half, no bass boost, and during a hard push, I heard the subs "pop" with the beat. Like they were being over driven. Am I overpowering them? Also, would 2 runs of 4 gauge be the same as running a single larger gauge? Budget builds are fun too. 3vil
You might be reaching the mechanical limits of the subs, but you may also be clipping. How'd set your gain?
Hotrod66
Not with any equipment. Don't have a o-scope. So I just set it a little past halfway. What's the best way to set gain with just a dmm? Budget builds are fun too.
