Daddy_ Posted May 29, 2016 Report Posted May 29, 2016 I have the 2012 Acura TL with the ELS system in it and want to change all the speakers in it. It has the following below.Front Tweeter 1.0 inchFront Door 6.5 inch 2Rear Door 3.5 inch 2Rear Deck 6.5 inch So I went to a car shop and they told me to get JL Audio C5 3-way setup for the front and use the 4" in the rear doors. They told I could either get JL Audio C2 or C3 Coaxial in the rear deck. They said to get to power all this was the JL Audio XD 800/8v2. This is where I am confused they told me each speaker will have its own channel. Example is front left tweeter is 1 channel, front right tweeter is another channel, front left door speaker is another channel, front right speaker is another channel and so on. So that would be 8 channels total? I thought for component the tweeter is considered one channel. So would I need a 6 or 8 channel amp? Also has anyone had any experience with the following below and help me decide on door speakers. JL Audio C5 components with the C2 or C3 coaxials in rear deck Alpine Type R components with Type R coaxials in rear deck and 4" Type S coaxials in rear door Infinity Kappa 60.11cs with Infinity Kappa 62.11i coaxials and 4" Infinity Ref-3022cfx Car: 2012 Acura TL Elite Head Unit: JL Audio Fix86 Front Stage : Alpine SPX-17PRO Rear Stage : Alpine SPR-60C Component Amp : JL Audio HD 600/4 Sub : 1 12" JL Audio W7 Sub Amp : JL Audio HD 1200

islandpride684 Posted May 29, 2016 Report Posted May 29, 2016 8 ch to run all 8 speakers but I wouldn't worry about the rear unless you plan on having people ride in the back a lot...but I would just focus on the front stage.... Daddy_ Posted May 29, 2016 Author Report Posted May 29, 2016 Say I just get a front stage setup and go with the Type R components and leave my rear ones stock for now. I will need a 4 channel amp? One channel for front left tweeter, One channel for front right tweeter, One channel for front left door, One channel for front right door?. Is that correct? Since coaxial are all built with driver and tweeter in one they are considered one channel? And you can bridge the amp or have 2 more channels for future upgrades. . . TheSacredBlades Posted May 29, 2016 Report Posted May 29, 2016 i would definitely get some thing with some power in the biggest available speaker port. say you have two ports for 6.9s get some heavy wat speakers for them and then go lighter on all the smaller ones. i would definitely recommend this if you are geting subs of any sort. you want speakers that can sound power full and clear to match your subs (:
TheSacredBlades Posted May 29, 2016 Report Posted May 29, 2016 bass is amazing, but if you dont hit the highs and mids beautifully it will sound washed out in line with the subs. your aiming for a ballenced system,so if you have earth shaking bass(this is amazing) then you want a powerfull tweter and mid range speaker. try looking into MTX Terminator component speakers and MTX terminator sub kit. very good starting system that will sound like somthing thats 4 times the price

Well use the speakers that I'm actually going to get and go from there so its less confusing for me. My plan is to run 6.5" Type R components in the front. 6.5" Type R coaxials in the rear deck. And 4" Alpine Type S coaxials in the rear passenger door. So how many channel amp would I need 4, 6, or 8. And what Alpine or JL Audio amp would work? Would the Alpine PDX F4 or F6 work. or the JL Audio XD 600/6 or 800/8 Car: 2012 Acura TL Elite Head Unit: JL Audio Fix86 Front Stage : Alpine SPX-17PRO Rear Stage : Alpine SPR-60C Component Amp : JL Audio HD 600/4 Sub : 1 12" JL Audio W7 Sub Amp : JL Audio HD 1200
