Will this amp fry my subs?

What you want to do is, on the radio, set you BASS to 0, set your Bass Boost to 0, set your bass level to 0. Next, go to the amp, and set the gain to 0.

Next, find your favorite song, you may need a friend for this. Turn the radio all the way up to you max listening level. Should be 2-4 clicks away from 100% volume. Now, with your door speakers screaming haha, slowly turn the gain up on the amp, until you think it's enough for the sub.

If you start to smell, hear, or see anything abnormal, turn the gain knob down. And this is how you will prevent yourself from killing them.

isnt it better to set the gain using a test tone than a song, since the frequency is always changing?

Just use a song that you are use to hearing. And that has some variety to the bass. So don't use a bass enhanced song, just something from the radio.

Helpful yes, but in this scenario you do not want to use the max clean setting on the gain.

Yeah, in this scenario, max clean is possibly going to fry the sub.

Don't use a DD-1 or oscope.

Just use a song, not a test tone.

The problem with this though is that it would be harder to hear distortion in a song. Much easier to hear distortion in a solid frequency.

Arent those subs like $50 a piece? just set the gain to max clean and wang. if they get smelly or you hear them smack the back plate turn it down.

I ran a pair of those on a dirty amp for like a year clipping the hell out of them and they were fine.

If you blow one or two up just get a couple more.

Use a dd-1 to set your gain, then back off. If you don't do that, then you have NO way of knowing if you are sending them clean or dirty to begin with. Go ahead and tune it by hear, and send dirty signal from the start. Or, set it properly, and if it smells or is to much, back it off. If you just tune it to ear and crank it, you will never ever know when you are in clean territory.
