JFtheMan
So besides the obvious gains in the power your amp can put out, are there any other big advantages of having a 14V/16V system as apposed to a 12V system?

Jhunt94
you get to spend more money! this lol plus some amps are designed to work at a higher voltage, and some 12v amps have a little more power output at higher voltages. Technically speaking you already have a 14v system, you just have a 12v battery. You use 14v batts for 16v systems and 16v batts for 18v systems. 2007 Ford F-150 Reg. Cab. Kyblack76
All gear will run significantly cooler also. Boards will be happier and make a ton more power easier. There are several positives to going up in voltage. We are in the process of switching to a 18v system as I type. I'm stoked to see the change. We will run one alt for the ecu to stay happy (and run our 4 chans, they are not high volt friendly atm, but other boards are coming soon), then the other 3 for the bank/sub amps. Hoping for 12-16 16v xs cells to be coming soon. We can fit 21, and that will happen. Just not this season. It is what it is. Bump4life
higher voltage = less amperage for same power. means cooler wire, cooler amps, more efficinet amps, less clipping happier subs Buyer/Seller Feedback Thread: http://www.stevemead...5015-bump4life/ MB C220 153 Trunk Car Build Log: http://www.stevemead...d/#entry1840136 MB C280 Ipad Dash SQ Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/194484-bump4lifes-new-benz-tony-c-relay-kit-pictures-ce-electric-audison-front-stage-installed/ My SPL Log: http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 BMW M340 xDrive Stock, for now.
