Why run multiple runs ?

The more runs you have, the lesser the resistance, which means less drop due to travel over the wire. It also needs to be there to effectively get the current your amp needs to the amp so it can do its job.

Not all set ups need multiple runs, but a lot of the setups on here pull 500-2000a of current, and 1 run of 1/0 or 4 gauge would literally melt under these current draws, not to mention the amount of voltage drop across the wire alone would be massive.

For every run of you add the amount of amperage your able to run without melting the wire from over drawing, so if you run 1/0 from front to back you'll have roughly 300 amps of capacity to play with, but if you need 400 amps of draw then a second run is required to meet the demands of your system.

Ok makes sense. So Ima be getting a new Ford Fusion when I get home this deployment. Ima use all sky high 0 gauge. Ima do the big 3. (As soon as I buy the car I'll shop for an alt). Ima leave stock front battery for now. Then drop my XS3400 in the trunk with a twisted sounds 2.8k and my 4 channel Lanzar evolution 4K. I have a massive audio hippo 15 for now. Do you think it would be wise to run multiple runs for me ? In the future want to get another XSd3400 and two sundown x15's

Absolutely, between the 2 amps your very close to the limit, and the extra run will add enough room for expansion later on.

I personally would run 2 1/0 runs. You will probably be pulling around 400a at max.

Play with this, http://www.calculator.net/voltage-drop-calculator.html

I know the Lanzar won't be putting anywhere near 4K it's only rated at 500x4 at 4 ohm but I don't it will do that. I got it for free so I'm willing to give it a shot. Now my next questions is fusesand what size. So Ima need to put a fuse on each run going to my second battery. Then a fuse on my two runs to my twisted sound and on my run to my Lanzar. Anymore? I've heard to put two on each run between front and back battery?
