Daniel Francis Sheppard
I paid a company to install this system because I updated the amp and subs-- Amp is JL HD750/1 Subs (2) JL audio w3v3-4. Notice they have been running hot and jl specs say this should not happen I am thinking it is the wiring job. I made a diagram showing how they wired the subs, box terminals and amp together... Karkov
http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=1&I=41#results You're well within the ratings of the amp http://www.jlaudio.com/hd750-1-car-audio-hd-amplifiers-98220 Do you know how they set gains? maybe clipping is causing things to over heat, subs and amp. maybe not enough air flow to amp? where's it located in vehicle? 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. Daniel Francis Sheppard
Looks right to me, what ohm load were you trying to accomplish or think is right/wrong? they are SVC They run hot-- the gain has been set properly with the DD1 - the max volume is 38 as it is tuned to that. When I run the system on 26-29 I can usually smell the wood from the box. The subs cone feel a little warm as well. Everything talked about is connected via 8 gauge wire. Ive been afraid to go above 30 as I fear they will blow. I had a pair before this of same subs but they blew within 4 months.
tboorn
yeah everything looks fine i would check your gain. well since you say your gain is right then you shouldnt have a problem, subs get warm, some even get HOT. theres electricity running through them so they are bound to retain heat. youd be surprised how hot some subs can get and still be perfectly fine. tboorn
is your box ported? put an air freshener in it Fidelity Built to Last Team Sound Asleep 24Runner Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/196657-24runner-sleeper-system-lots-of-fi-neo-dd-focal-new-video-w-juicebox-lithium/ 2 x 12" Fi BTL N2 / 2 x 12" Fi BTL N3 2 DD M3b Maxwell 2.7V 3000F Supercapacitors Pioneer DEH-80prs Focal P165 V30 components Rockford Fosgate T-400.
3vil
The wood smell is most likely because of all the air pumping in and out of the box. Hot coils smell very different. If take it back to the shop, explain your concerns, and ask that they re-dd1 the HU and amp. Don't let them sell you on another amp, just retune what's already installed. diegoclass2010
looks fine to me... maybe just dont play it has loud, jl subs arent made to be pushed to there limits, ... i had the jl hd series amps and yes they run pretty hot... try this turn your system on for 20 min but dont play anything bet it will feel warm and it not playing anything... they just run hot, noting to worry about about the amp
