If I get an install done at a local shop should I expect them to build a box for me?

Do you just not have the tools to build one? Because if you give us info on what sub and amp you're using and the max dimensions of the vehicle it's going in there are quite a few people on here that would be more than happy to give you blueprints for the perfect box for your particular needs. Really all you need to build a box is a circular saw, a jigsaw, a drill, some wood glue, a couple clamps, and something to make sure your cut lines are straight.

And not chop your fingers off. (Old guy across the street did) ask around family friends and neighbors. Someone might be able to help you out.
