xile Posted January 4, 2017 Report Posted January 4, 2017 looking for some help setting up 3 alts. I have 2 mechman alts and a avbm 2. I was also looking to run the stock alt also. my alts came with a dual harness to hookup the avbm. I know I cant hook my stock alt to the avbm so can I just splice a pigtail into the factory harness and get it to work. these are going in a 2000 suburban with a 4 pin oval plug. Thanks in advance!

Ur extra 2 mechman alternators will run separately solely for ur audio system right? I dont think u wanna plug ur factory harness into the mechmans? Just let the stock alt handle the stock plug. Ur mechmans avbm2 should be the one ur trying to find where to splice into for power. im new to this tho lol so hopefully the experienced members will help more.
xile Posted January 6, 2017 Author Report Posted January 6, 2017 The stock would still be plugged in to the factory harness I would be adding the mechmans so all 3 alts were getting their excite single from the factory harness. The mechmans came with a dual harness that plugs into the factory harness and only has 1 wire to excite the alts. I'm not separating the car and audio. All 3 alts will charge a d3400 up front and 7 d3400's in back.

reedal Posted January 28, 2017 Report Posted January 28, 2017 If you want to eliminate the chance of a problem that you read about, grab a Turn on relay kit from CE Auto electric supply, and use it with the factory alt ignition source to excite the Alts.
