WalledSonic
I removed my SCV-6000D to do some adjustments and noticed this burn mark on the underside of the main power cable (internal to the amp). I bought this amp refurb'd from dB-r a few months ago. QUESTION: Do you think the burn mark on this cable was likely caused when the amp was originally blown (transistor heat caused the burn on the cable) OR Do you think the burn mark is from normal transistor operation and I just need to ziptie it to a location away from the transistors? I appreciate any helpful insight. When I bought the amp and looked at it originally, I didnt look under this cable and therefore I'm not sure if it was there when I received it originally. The amp is currently in perfect working order. The rest of the amp pics are in Amp Guts, in case anyone wants to see the rest of the amp. ShadeTreeMechanic
I would suspect that the discoloration is from the previous failure. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
3vil
I'm with Shade on this. You got 2 decent burns, and 2 smaller patches. I'm guessing those are from shit blowing before, and thus causing, the repairs. You'd think there would be noticeable discoloration of the FETs in the same area if it was a recent heat issue.
