Those who sell car audio equipment have surely had these questions asked many times. Today we are going to look at Planet Audio's version of bang, the "Big Bang" BB4000.1. Amp is stated with a "MAX" rating of 4000 watts at 1 ohm, but closer inspection on the website shows a more conservative 3000 watts RMS at 1 ohm. At an MSRP of $329 USD, if the amp can provide 3kW RMS, it is a great deal for sure. But does it? Let's watch together and find out... Full disclosure: Amp was provided by a viewer. omnibus Posted August 28, 2017 Report Share Posted August 28, 2017 I like how his test on an old 1994 MTX 2300 pushed 2200 watts and was a lot smaller than this amp. Otherwise those who don't understand why one 1000w amp costs $250 and another is $49 will stay confused. The "best selling" car audio amp right now on Amazon is the Boss Armor 1500. They buy it because it's cheap, not specifically because of how many 0's are on the power rating. It's a throw away society. Then again I notice some people with Audison's, later ditching them for some other build, at least for the general consumer out there, the cost of Boss isn't putting them out of anything especially if they are getting 1100 watts for $100 despite it saying 4000 watts.
