Or 1 to 8 hours with a 20-60 hz sinwave free air. Mounted to board with no enclosure I was wondering since my box is vented with a massive vent could I just install the subwoofer into the enclosure and run that 20-60 hz sinewave? WalledSonic Posted May 22, 2018 Report Share Posted May 22, 2018 If youre tuned to 25Hz then the sub moves the least at 25Hz. Make sure to set a test tone at a frequency that the sub moves some (like go up or down 5 or so Hz) and proceed. Set your subsonic so that your subs dont go past Xmax. Try 20Hz but if they sound and look like theyre going to jump out the box then move it up to 22Hz. I would not set it higher than 22Hz IF your box is actually tuned to 25Hz. Once its broken in (yes, 20-30 hours is about right), check again to see what your minimum cone excursion is and that is your tuning (+/- 1 or 2 Hertz). That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. Nah, thats how you burn up a coil real quick. Although, to your point, my 'break-in' was riding the edge of smelly subs with the gain knob until they sounded great and didnt smell anymore. That took about 30ish hours. And besides that what would i put in my closet if i put the thousands of dollars worth of audio thats in it to use in my ride? And where would i put my groceries if i had no cargo space? think of the groceries, man, think of the groceries. I'd probably just fry it all anyways since i wouldnt break any of it in first, meh.
