Dual subs wired in series

Since I never see this configuration suggested, I'm assuming it's not recommended, but can someone tell me what the problem would be with it.  Also what ohm load would it produce using dual 4 ohm subs?

Generally isn’t used b/c w/4 ohm subs would result in an 8 ohm load. So would decrease power output.

it's not done b/c the loads is so high you'll get little to no output from your amp. the example you give of a pair of dual 4 ohm subs would yield a 16 ohm load. let's say you have an amp that does 1000 @ 1 ohm. at 16 ohms that amp will likely only produce around 60 watts.

Thanks for the replies.  I wasn't sure if it would result in 8 ohm, 2 ohm, or something else.  And yea, it does kinda look like Johnny 5 lol.

 

I was trying to figure out a way to wire up 2 dual 4 ohm subs and get a 2 ohm load, but doesn't look like it's possible.

You can wire to 4ohm series/parallel or 1ohm parallel
