Power Wire And Alternator Setup

Recommended Posts

I'm running 3000 watts rms (about 217 amps) and the amps are prob about 50% efficient so that means they will actually be pulling around 435 amps rms. My main lead (the one in question) is going to be between 18-20 feet long. What size power cable do i need to run 435 amps at 20ft long?

looking at a chart it says i need a 2-2/0 wire. wtf is that? Does that mean two 2/0 wires?

1/0 OFC is good for 250-300 amps at 20ft. I would recommend using two runs of 1/0, due to it being easier to work with than 2/0 or larger
