lastround360 Posted October 20, 2019 Report Posted October 20, 2019 So keeping things as straight forwards as possible: I have 4 kicker compr-12's powered by a rockville db16. I have two seperate boxes/enclosures, 2 subs in each. Each box is powered by its own channel on the amp. The subs are each 2 ohm dvc and I have each channel/box wired at 2 ohms. One day I was watching my subs while listening to music and I noticed that for one of the two boxes, the sub on the right is hitting a bit harder than the one on the left. I also noticed that the one on the left barely bumps at all for certain bass frequencies. I know it has nothing to do with the amp since the other box works just fine and I tried swapping the channels and it made no difference. I measured the impedance of each sub of the box in question and noticed that one has 0.5 ohms greater than the other (i forgot the exact impedance). I haven't heard any rattling or strange noises that would suggest a blown sub. I should also mention that, for the box in question, the weaker sub is 2 years older than the other one in the box. Any ideas?
lastround360 Posted October 20, 2019 Author Report Posted October 20, 2019 I was thinking about that but then wouldn't it not be hitting at all? I am almost positive I wired it correctly but I will double check when I get a chance to be sure.

lastround360 Posted October 20, 2019 Author Report Posted October 20, 2019 @Mike4068 Sounds like u didn't actually read my post. @AaronT wire gauge and brand the same. Length is longer on the side of the weaker sub
AaronT Posted October 20, 2019 Report Posted October 20, 2019 That could account for a bit more resistance (higher Impedance) but I doubt it's going to cause a half ohm rise. Are the boxes identical shape and size?
lastround360 Posted October 20, 2019 Author Report Posted October 20, 2019 Strange thing! Took the subs out of the box in question to make sure wiring was correct and there were no poor connections. Everything looked perfect so I disconnected and reconnected the subs from the box via the butt connectors built into the box and that fixed the problem! I'm guessing I had a poor connection on one and reconnecting it gave it a better connection. Thanks for your help everybody!
