Maebros Posted October 24, 2019 Report Posted October 24, 2019 I'm getting some engine noise from my speakers while my vehicle is running. I have double checked all the ground to ensure they are solid. I've read through a few topics on here saying it could be my RCA however I unplug my RCAs from the h/u and I'm still getting the noise. I've even added an extra ground from the Headunit and bypass since I know some pioneer unit have this problem. ( mine is an AVH-X5800BHS) I don't believe it s the alt because it doesn't get louder or change at higher RPM. Fuses are all good as well. If I turn the source off on the h/u it stops. Would another ground from the H/u itself to the Chassis help? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've attached a sound clip if it help. AaronT Posted October 24, 2019 Report Posted October 24, 2019 It could be alt doesn't necessarily have to change pitch.
Mike4068 Posted October 24, 2019 Report Posted October 24, 2019 By solid ground do you mean that the connections are tight or did you measure with a dmm to make sure that you are under half an ohm?
AaronT Posted October 24, 2019 Report Posted October 24, 2019 How does one measure resistance of a ground? I was under assumption that a Meg meter was needed? Do you take neg battery post on one lead and then other lead to your frame or chassis ground?
Mike4068 Posted October 24, 2019 Report Posted October 24, 2019 Check your factory grounds as well. My jeep had paint that needed to be removed on all the factory locations. Some read as high as 3 ohms.
AaronT Posted October 24, 2019 Report Posted October 24, 2019 The automotive industry has a retarded standard they go by if it's less if it's 5 ohms or less it's good to go
