lil_italy773 Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 i have a gmc jimmy that have 4x6s that can go in the dash. there are aftermarket tweeters i have hooked up to were the 4x6s would go and i have door speakers 6.5s. if i was to wire the 4x6s and the tweeters together and im guessing the 6.5s are going to be in there sumwere what ohm load would i have. or how dose this work with all the speakers i have a 2 channel amp.
dwright27 Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 depends on the ohm rating of all of those speakers. 2006 F-150 4 DC XL M2 18's Walled Daily Driver XS Power 4 DC 3.5kw Team DC Team S.P.L. Lot of Audio Technix and 1/0 DC Audio Dealer American Bass Dealer XS Power Dealer Audio Technix Dealer
Mosin Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 I'm guessing that they are all 4-Ohm speakers. Cause most speakers are 4-Ohms Derp.
jmsonoma03 Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 adding tweerters usually doesnt change the ohm load so if you connected the 4by6 and tweeter together it should still be 4ohms and if you parallel the 6.5 to them them you should be at 2ohms which is fine for a 2ch amp but the dash speakers will alot louder than the doors. good luck i would recomend getting a 4ch amp it would sound better.
RichardXTC Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 If you connecting in parallel then the general formula is 1/rp=1/r1 +1/r2 +1/r3 etc. Where rp is the total resistance in parallel and r1 and 2 and 3 etc are you different ohm loads. Remember once you have your answer you must invert the 1/rp to get rp. lil_italy773 Posted May 11, 2008 Author Report Posted May 11, 2008 i didnt understand that at all sorry^^^^ yeah they are all 4 ohm speakers im just wanting to twist the tweets and the 4x6s together. but the 6.5s they are ran from the same wires arnt the?? i guess ill twist them all together and use the dmm to see what the wires are getting at the amps end. anyone else have any 2 cents or anything they like to add. yes i was thinkin bout a 4 chan but have to wait a lil longer for that to happen.
