Derrick824
12.5volts at idle means your alternator isn't charging properly. Any stock charging system should put out 14+volts. This is also causing a low voltage condition with your batteries since they aren't getting a good charge. Those batteries should hold 12.9v at rest. Decaf
rev the engine up to 2000rpm then take ur reading should be at 12.8 with car off/idle if alt doesnt kick in right away if it goes below 12 when u rev it ur alt isnt working edit* and get rid of stock bat for biggest kinetik that fits mixing bats especially wet and dry cell causes uneven charging and usually the larger bat "steals" amperage from the smaller bat Edited May 20, 2008 by decafcappucino
Browne
wen i rev it reads about 13.9 - 14.0 sumtimes 14.2volts Quote System specs Beyma Pro 8MI (2) Rockford P550.2 Rockford T20001BD MTX 9512 (2) HO Alt 200amp BIG 3 Pioneer AVH-P4900DVD Clarion EQS746 AudioControl EPIC160 Kinetik HC2400
Decaf
well it should go to 14.4 without music playing but it is working.... i dont know the exact problem but the alt is working if the voltage goes up when u rev it try disconnecting 2400 and see what u get, and if you can, disconnect stock and temporarily connect 2400 and check again most HO alts dont "turn on" until 800-1000 rpm, and provide peak output at ~1500-2000rpm
Browne
Without the Kinetik i was reading 13.5 or sumthing like that wen reving.... neva tried the hc2400 alone....buh i kno wen i first got it it read 13.0volts out of the box Quote System specs Beyma Pro 8MI (2) Rockford P550.2 Rockford T20001BD MTX 9512 (2) HO Alt 200amp BIG 3 Pioneer AVH-P4900DVD Clarion EQS746 AudioControl EPIC160 Kinetik HC2400
Decaf
with 200a alt and stock batt and no kinetik u should see the highest number, since ur charging the least amount of batts are u measuing at the stock bat location when ur taking these readings? or kinetik in the back
