HobbiestBasshead Posted February 20 Report Posted February 20 Hello, I have some questions regarding my planned install that I’d appreciate any guidance/help/tips for. I will be setting up my electrical to feed 3 amps: Taramps Big Boss 8k, JL HD600, and AudioControl D-4.800. The subwoofers are a pair of Sundown 15in xv3s wired to 1 ohm. 1. I currently have a Mechman 400 amp alt, an Odyssey AGM (under the hood), a Glowe LiFePo Series 2 battery in the back, and an Ioxus UltraCap next to the rear battery. Would a single run of 2/0 Sky High Oversized OFC wire be enough to connect the AGM to the Glowe Lithium? Or do I need 2 runs? 2. Considering the 2/0 run would be about 20 feet (Tahoe), would 400 amp fuses be appropriate or too high? Plan to fuse under the hood and then again once the wire is in the cabin. 3. I plan to use 1/0 KnuKonceptz Kolossus OFC to connect the Glowe Lithium to the Cap via a fuse block in between. - Would dual 1/0 runs from the Glowe to the Cap be enough? - Are 300 amp fuses ok for each wire about 2.5 feet on each side of the fuse? 4. Lastly, I’ll have two 1/0 power and grounds (about 2 feet long each) from the Cap to the Big Boss. Is this good enough or should I add dual inputs? This is just for pleasure, not competing. But every few years I get the urge for something a little bit louder. Again, appreciate any advice! Longtime lurker. Quote
TaylorB Posted April 6 Report Posted April 6 Don’t mix lithium and agm ever. Do a battery delete in the front and get rid of the agm. Quote
Donnyj48 Posted April 10 Report Posted April 10 I was told not to mix only because of the volts are different and you could mix if you use a dc to dc solar charger this will essentially hide the lithium from the agm battery they have dif charging patterns that will damage each other plus the agm has lower voltage then the lithium. and it will see it as a battery in need of power and overcharge it depleting your lithium at the same time, question is how do you get the combined power of them both while car is running to your stereo equipment while using the dc to dc charger? I don't think a single 2/0 from the front to the back will do especially at 20 feet, i am running dual lines from the front 1/0 and a 4/0 big 3 done and 200 amp alt and my back battery goes dead like i'm not getting enough charge to the rear and i'm only running a Big Boss 3k. Two breakers should be fine one up front after the battery and same for the rear. I actually have 4 breakers running incase some bad shyte happens my alternator, both batteries and amplifier can be cut off from the rest of my electrical system. As far as getting rid of your agm up front car start lithiums are freaking expensive AF!!! starting at $500 and goes up depending on the size you need. Whatever you do don't make your gear struggle to get power it could fry components in your vehicle. A 1/0 gauge, 100% OFC (oxygen-free copper) power wire can typically handle systems up to 4000 watts RMS over a distance of up to 10-15 feet without significant voltage drop. I would run dual 1/0 on top of your 2/0 from the front to back it's super important to feed the trunk as 8k will demand a lot of power fast like and if it doesn't get it your battery bank will take a hit and just from like 30-60 minutes of banging maybe less will = 8 hours on the charger every night!!! That's what i am dealing with right now. Quote
