kentb Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 when i was connecting the wire from the + battery to the + Alternator, i accidentally hit the alternator case, so it sparked and melted a small part of it. so i got everything connected again and now when i start the car after about 3-5 seconds it shuts off. what do you think happened? if i killed my alternator why would the car shut off? kingsuv Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Not good. Whats the charge on the battery? Have you double checked all your connections? Designing, building, and shipping boxes. Yahoo IM - kingsuv00If the listening level is too loud, please inform the driver, so he can promptly pull over, and let you out. not many cars can get me to pluggin my ears but this one.......damn. ChevyBoy Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 mightve blown a fuse. check all your fuses under the hood. if nothing, then check the fuses in the car.

I know that you fixed but in the future if you unhook the neg battery cable you shouldn't have this problem.
