Amp Overheating

i've got this amp its ample 1500wrms (old but good =]) and latley this thing has been getting red hot nothing hooked wrong never goes into protect just gets hot if been playing all day or not idk help plez

Vehicle:1998 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 I6 with Cherry Bomb and Cold Air Intake,

Speakers:5 1/4 Pioneers in front and back

Deck: Jensen DVD In-Dash

Amp: Lanzar Opti-Drive 2000w

Subs: 2 Boss Chaos Edtion 1000w max (500wrms)

Rubber: Nitto Grappler 35 x 12.50

Fun Things: Cobra CB with PA speaker to piss people off =]

If the listening level is too loud, then your not deaf enough

we need brand and model, what ohm load you are running, and is it really "red hot", if so then your metal is melting. If its in direct sunlight all day, sure its gonna be hot as hell.

more info and/or pics would be nice so we can help

Factory HU with LOC

mids/highs-Insignia components

Sub- E8 in bass tube

Amp- sae-1200d

Show Setup:

HU-Sony MEX-1HD (brings massive respect for sony)

fronts - Infinity Kappa perfect comps

rears- Infinity Kappa coax

mid/high amp - Autotek 5600

Subs - 2 RE SE 15's

Sub Amps - 2xSAE-1200D

Box - 5cubes sealed

Wire- Lots of Knu 1/0

ill have to go look and check and pics and its ample brand are coming its at a 2 ohm load and no its not in direct sunlight its monted on the back of my box but no its not so hot that its melting the metal but its melting the carpet 0624081930.jpg

this was before i had done any cleaning up i had just got it mounted its set at 1/4 way

how did you set the gain? with any kind of meter, or just turned it up till it played?

looks like 4ga power wire, but I can't tell, you may want to try 0 ga

Where is it grounded?

If its in a small area it just may not be hetting enough airflow, try a 12v fan you can plug into the cigarette lighter and see if it helps, and if it does add a more permanent fan with proper wiring and switchs.

Check the sub with a DMM to make sure it's still a 2ohm load and not something lower.

i just set it until there was no distortion its 2ga wire and it grounded on the seat belt screw only place in a jeep its mounted up under my rear seat you think an amp that big would come with a fan or something but yea it up under my rear seat
