Big P Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 Most of you know I have access to a cnc wood router all I have to do is pay for machine time and I got free rain of it. I asked the guy if it will cut plexi and he said he dosent know he never tried. I wondering if this thing will. If it will i might cut some plexi boxs.
Big P Posted July 8, 2008 Author Report Posted July 8, 2008 what about melting it and making a big mess?
AI James Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 will make a mess but if the blades sharp it shouldnt melt it
kingsuv Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 Use a brand new blade and I think your in business Designing, building, and shipping boxes. Yahoo IM - kingsuv00If the listening level is too loud, please inform the driver, so he can promptly pull over, and let you out. not many cars can get me to pluggin my ears but this one.......damn. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it.
Forevrbumpn Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 and WD40, some sort of cooling oil when I have cut woofer circles in 1" and 3/4" plexi, it was all good with a lil spray another thing I would look up, just in case if its online, look for RPM speed, and blade width/speed ratio of some sort, and your in business I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
dr.db Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 You also have to use quality plexi....no cheap China shit.....chemcast,plexi brand and a few other...we have no problem at our shop...we router everything from .25 to 1.25 bevel..roundover's,whatever!!!A little spray silicon works best...or some Plexis
Big P Posted July 8, 2008 Author Report Posted July 8, 2008 Hummm ok thanks for the advise. I dont know if I can spray any thing on there because it might contaminate the wood on the next thing he cuts. It has interchangeable bits aswell. The router speed can be controlled by the computer. So I think I can speed it up and slow it down. What rpm is normally good? Does any one know were a good place to get wholesale plexi what thickness to?
dr.db Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 Interstate here in Sac...there should be a few places out there in the bay
Big P Posted July 8, 2008 Author Report Posted July 8, 2008 im down the coast at home. In between Pismo and Santa Barbara. I think theres actual manufacturer in San Louis Opisbo. Im gonna look into it. Just gotta figure out how thick it needs to be now.
