benz280se
audiobahn 2200hc installed this in a buddy of mines truck the other day on two cerwin vega hed 15's and i must say i was unimpressed. it was ok it slammed to say he got it for 100 dollars but i could tell just by listening he was not getting or going to get anywhere near 1600 watts it promised maybe 700-1000 if he's lucky. and he didn't want to buy 0 gauge wire so 4 gauge for power 8gauge for speaker. anyway less then three days later he had to buy new alt, and battery! course i think they were about to go out anyway. when i tuned his system i didnt use a dmm or anything but i only turned the gain to just under half, no boost, and crossover at 50. to me still sounded a shade over bleah let's hear it for audiocrap!! yay Edited July 8, 2008 by benz280se

benz280se
Yeh not using a dmm and running 4 gauge is what probably killed the alt and battery maybe but i have never in all my years used a dmm to set up my sound systems.not saying i am an expert in the field by no means but i have been running high power systems since 89 and not once have i blown my speakers amps or killed any alts because i don't set my stuff up for any distortion or clipping. and right now i have us amps400 and two fi ssd twelves in a 74 benz and in my escape memphis mch1300 with two twelves. both have optima bats with wire upgrades i believe you guys call it the big3. i haven't had a problem yet and probably not going to. you don't always have to use a dmm if you use common sense and good wiring. he didn't want to buy extra wiring even after i told him that high current amp was going to need it. and comparing his amp to both the amps that i have and what they "put out" his, even at full capacity, was still going to suck! kingsuv
The HC series are very power hungry. 4G power wire will not get it. Quote Designing, building, and shipping boxes. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it.
benz280se
The HC series are very power hungry.4G power wire will not get it. yeah that's what i told him but he insisted on buying 4 gauge. and it wasn't my money so he got what he got. but now that i think about it after he got his new alt and battery his charge was still pretty low. but i think it wasn't just the install because this guy had an an rf p8002 before that for a month and blew it when i looked at it he had the gains and boost to maximum! now even after he bought the new bat and alt he came int work yesterday and wants to get rid of everything because now he has blown his door speakers and one of the fifteens. when i set up his system it was loud with no distortion or clipping. he messed with the settings i'm sure . probably boosted everything to max. Sounds like you have a repeat customer. Make sure you make a buck off him every time he blows his shit. Quote Designing, building, and shipping boxes.
