We'll try to get some good testing in on it ASAP. The 12-layer flat coil is sitting on my desk too... looks ridiculous. sundownz Posted August 29, 2008 Author Report Share Posted August 29, 2008 Can you put it beside an 8 layer coil so we can get a feel for dimensions The outer-diameter is almost exactly the same and the winding height is a bit shorter to get the right impedance - it can't be any fatter or it wouldn't fit the gap, the flat wire is so much thinner we got 12 layers in place of eight. If it tests well enough to offer I will suggest it only for burps - I expect the BL^2 / Re to get too high to really be "useful" daily. The 8-layer round with our 5-spider pack actually makes a pretty good daily sub - that is what I'll suggest for most people if this guy goes production.
