Clocksta
Ok, obviously a big block is gonna suck down gas like no other compared to a little 4 cyl, but when i never knew was...do tuners with their little 4 cylinders with mods still get good gas milage? or are all the mods just taking it all away from the engine? You won't get as good of gas mileage as a stock engine.... if your planning on taking a stock 175hp 4cyl and making 300hp your gonna loose a good buit of gas mileage while it will still be good it won't be near as much as the stock motor. roscoe1129
From what my experience (91 talon tsi awd aftermarked turbo, engine mods like ported and polished head, headers exhaust and some dry nitro) I couldnt stay out of it enough to get good gas milage. My buddy has a built civic with like 11lbs of boost and he says it effects his milage alot. Clocksta
Ah, yeah thats kinda what i figured, i need some speed in my next car, but whether a big block or a tuner, i dont know, i dont really like tuners but, thats only when they are poorly/cheaply made by some little punk thinking he is cool
Pitbullx
the reason why people with modified imports get alot worse gas mileage is because they cant keep their foot out of the gas....... I got great mileage with my boosted/swapped civic hatch Quote Team Devastation Mixed Martial ArtsMachado Brazilian JiujitsuOnce I lock it on there's no escape I don't train to make you tap, I train to tear your arm, leg, or head off. E-Train
^^^^^^I agree with him, I know a guy thats got a twin turboed lingenfelter z06, and they have the 427's in them, I mean its pushing almost 1,000 HP but he can still get 25 MPG highway if he stays in 6th and just cruises not puttin the pedal to the floor Quote 1997 4 Runner Alpine CDA-9886 4 Fi Audio X Series 12's 1 Crunch GP3000D Pro DC Power Inc. talentfinder36
Modified cars get better gas mileage as long as they are not in boost or on the gas. Because most mods take away the restrictions that come from the factory. In my eclipse as long as I was not boosting, I got about 35-40 mpgs. Under boost it when down to about 19-20mpg.
