str86diesel Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 the guys above nailed it, all the cat does is serve a purpose of lowering the temperature of exhaust gasses coming out of the tailpipe. Cooler temps mean less emissions. The reason why you have a 3 chamber cat and not a muffler was solely a manufacturer call. They installed a cat that works well as a muffler at the same time as operating as a cat. I stress...and boy do I stress, do not move that cat unless you research what the emissions laws are where you are located.
