the guys above nailed it, all the cat does is serve a purpose of lowering the temperature of exhaust gasses coming out of the tailpipe.  Cooler temps mean less emissions.

The reason why you have a 3 chamber cat and not a muffler was solely a manufacturer call.  They installed a cat that works well as a muffler at the same time as operating as a cat.  I stress...and boy do I stress, do not move that cat unless you research what the emissions laws are where you are located.  Here in Colorado, each cat is serialized to the vehicles vin number and removing it, is a federal offense, as emissions are required here.

Yes rich being too much gas. And if you found a Chevy dealership...they should work on anything ever made by GM...including Cadillacs.

theres no such thing as too expensive when it comes to upgrades like that, because imo if you are gonna spend to upgrade then do it correctly rather then be a cheap ass ricer
