loganberry
I personally love down firing boxes, they can look more prodessional/clean, and has an added signature to the sound, but one there, there IS a specific height between cone and floor 1) cone WILL rub on floor on excursion 2) you need an actual kind of chamber there- IMPORTANT 3) just raise it up about another 1.5" and you should be fine Thats all its all good experience If you looked in my garage, I still have some boxes left over when I went on my 4 year 150 box testing phase of life every $20 I would have extra, I was off buying crappy wood, slapping something together, and test it it the speaker shop I litterally rushed built these boxes, because I was deteremined to find the most efficient, deepest sounding box, along with finding a bunch of other designs there is enough clearence for the sub at MAX excursion it will not hit the floor...these subs are like 8mm max excursion My F-150 Build GET ON THE BANDWAGON what if they tried messing with the amps when the subs werent louder hahah jk
Forevrbumpn
I understand that, but it still needs a kind of airspace/cavity between the speakers and floor, it will just end up vibrating the box sometimes you can get away with it, all Iam saying is thru experience, a little more space between the woofers, and floor, and you WILL hear a improvement I would say min 1" between surround and floor I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
