External Port For Box

i am gonna be building a box for my civic. i want to port it through the rear speaker hole. i can probably fit a 4-6" port through the hole. if my port length say 15" lets say can i just adjust the port to where it comes through the holes and leave some in the box. i have never done this before so i need all the help i can get.

that doesn't help me. lol. do i use the same port length as i would if the port was inside the box. i have to do it this way because i cant fold my seats down

same length...a port is a port....

personally in my experience aeroports and pvc work best when the entire port is outside the box and its flared from the inside... but its not too noticable

thank you. so it does not matter if the port is on the inside or the outside fully or half and half it will be the same tuning.

it will affect it some since the port wont be displacing as much air in the box...but for the amount you are probably gonna end up having outside of the enclosure, i wouldnt worry about it too much..

so all i gotta do it take into account the displacement of the port. i would shrink the box every so slightly right?

thanks guy. hopefully i can start soon. 4 10's ported. tuned to 32 (might change though) with a little over 2k total rms.

the more its outside the box the higher the tuning and the higher the volume

in your situtation.... likely ~4-5cuft box... from being inside the box to completly outside the box it could change as much as 2hz rise but since its tuned low to begin with itll be ok... if you want just tune 1-2hz lower to compensate.... or shrink the box accordingly to how much the port would have displaced if all inside
