Decaf Posted October 28, 2008 Author Report Posted October 28, 2008 doing something similar w/stain on the back of the box which will be seen thru the cabin to trunk entrance got 1 sub today..... very very happy to see it reads 2.8ohms... so the amp will see .7ohm, imo perfect match.. should see 2000w even after impedence rise sx sexiness.. love me some subs without boobs coils look purty too... bright orange flatwound copper slowly but surely
Decaf Posted October 28, 2008 Author Report Posted October 28, 2008 got a little done.... im really held back cause i work 11-7 usually and its cold so i cant do the fiberglass resin til tomorrow and tuesday 11/3-11/4... always behind schedule lol should have more progress tomorrow... at least some glassing done... maybe put the top on and start staining

Decaf Posted November 4, 2008 Author Report Posted November 4, 2008 how important in my case would it be to add a 2nd baffle... even 1/2... its braced pretty well but i cant decide would putting resin and a layer of mat be somewhat equivalent? ill conjure up something tomorrow... was gonna use t-nuts.. might try that too

Nightshade Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 I really like the way your box turned out. I don't know if I would put a second baffle on it or not. I don't have one on my box, but if I would have had the room to do so I think that I probably would have done it. If you have enough wood to cut out the entire face not just where the woofers mount also around where the port is I say do it. Otherwise it may look a little strange with the double baffle just where the woofers are and not around the port. You could cut the second baffle a 1/4" small all the way around and fill it with bondo to give it a nice effect. I've done it before with a box and it looked pretty cool. Either way you do it I'm sure it's gonna turn out great. I love the theme that you're using so far in your build. The wood finish is very rare to see in a build these days and I really like how your pulling it off. Keep up the good work. Decaf Posted November 4, 2008 Author Report Posted November 4, 2008 thanks for the comments for those of u who troll my build... it takes so long sometimes to get things going the other problem with double baffle is it will bring tuning down even more... and its already at 30.13, which i was hesitant to go that low with the sx's anyways those boxes are looking real good decaf....can't wait to see the finished product with many vids i hope lol im a vid hype, i take a few a day for the first month it seems of having a new setup.... i have sooooo many new songs that are goldmines waiting to screw around with The wood finish is very rare to see in a build these days and I really like how your pulling it off. I always wondered why no one used stain as much... i always thought it was classy, much more so if i had trim in the car to match wood with... i also kinda got insipired by "sleepys" envoy w/2 18"hdc3 +mm4000 from ca.com... its half fleckstone and half stain... hopefully... if everything goes as planned... both boxes will be done tomorrow lucas's needs a plunge router around port opening + 3 45s of resin mine needs same routing and 1 45 of resin and resin on the outside
