99GPGTX Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 i would really like to block off my trunk...i want to have woofer/woofers firing forward and not have any air get released into the truck... how do i go about doing this? right now i have a 12" BTL on 3k but could change if i want to. only thing i hate is that i cant fold my back seat down. but i have no idea how ill go about doing this im also going to build a new amp rack came upp with this a while ago... not sure if it will help the opening to my truck is really small so... Jextel Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 im nowhere near a pro but i would start buy building in the trunk to the max specs possible and then use expanding to seal it off competely...look like you can get the 12 reconed to a 15 and run 2 of them then put your batteries in your spare tire well and mont the amps on the back of the box..but thats just a thought..actually thats what i would have done but instead im walling my car.. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3042878TEAM DEADLY HERTZ "GET LOUD OR DIE TRYIN"only the loudest will survive.

Nightshade Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 In order to seal it off from the trunk you'll need to use expanding spray foam. That's kind of permanent and is very hard to get off. I have a couple of pics of trunk walls that were in my car. One was with a Fi btl 12 and the other was with 2 Dc level 4 10's. The pic of the Fi sub doesn't look like it's sealed off, but the black on each side of the enclosure is spray foamed and then bondoed over and painted black. I went to the DC's after that and just carpeted over where it was painted black. This one wasn't a trunk wall, but it filled the entire opening of where the back seat folded down from the trunk. The loudest of all of them on the TL was the single Fi Btl 12. It did a 145.7 off of a single american bass 150.1 Sorry, I wasn't trying to jack your thread either. I just figured I'd give you a few examples of what my past trunk walls looked like so you could get an idea of what you wanted to do. Personally I'd get another Fi 12 and do two of them in your Grand Prix. One will be loud, but two would obviously be louder. You could even upgrade to 15's, but I think you have the right amount of space to do 12's and be very happy. You could even just use the amp you have now and it'll still be louder than just running a single 12. Good luck with the build. 2013 VW Jetta GLI 2.0 Turbo 1 Sundown Audio SCV2000 1 Sundown Audio X15 V2 1 XS Power D3100 Audio Control LC6i Stock Deck 146.4 sealed on the dash at 37hz 2001 Focus ZX3: RETIRED Team Sundown Audio, Team XS Power, 2 time NSPL Car 3601-Up Champion, 2 time NSPL Car Hardcore ChampionHighest NSPL Scores to date:154.3db on the dash sealed at 46hz, 156.2db in the kick at 46hz155.2db unofficial on dash at 43hz
99GPGTX Posted September 2, 2008 Author Report Posted September 2, 2008 the bigg problem with running two is the box..my opening to the truck of my car is soo small..the box i have in now barely fit as is and i would need another amp., another hc2400, and prolly another run of 1/0 then install and whatever else....ill prolly just stick with the BTL or a DC lvl5 i just dont want to do this and have it come out look shady Currently: 2015 Evo X WW Forgestar F14 18s --Rally Armour Mudflaps ETS 3.5" FMIC, CAI, Open Dump DownPipe, Test Pipe, Ultimate Racing Catback, BLEVINS TUNE, Fortune Auto 500 Coilovers Build: Crescendo Mezzos x2 Crescendo 800.4, 1500.1 Loaded Fi Q12 Second Skin Pro XS D5100 RF 360.2 Sky High Audio Wiring Need: ALTERNATOR!
