Guest MegaloManiac
Chicken must reallly like bass. If chicken is willing to spend a lil more in his HT setup. Ive read great things about B&W audio. But they are expensive. but they have insanely good sq. based on what I read. If I had the dough I'd invest in them. too me 2 fi Qs might give me a headace especiialy in a house..a lot of room for bass to travel. fun project it looks like. Im not that deep into doing this but ive never personally seen a system in a house that had a dedicated bass amp and a dedicated mids/high amp. Thats me though, like i said im a 12v kinda guy. This will be fun. ;D - - - - - - update 1-18-07 got the subs today and well it looks like they forgot to leave the dustcaps blank....but thats ok Chicken said he likes the logos so no worries. Added some 1 1/2" feet to the bottom of them. I wanted to do spikes but i didnt want to bolt up thru the port. These work fine and get them off the ground at least. A little 10Ga speaker wire fresh off the role is always good They are soldered together and then soldered onto the terminals then smothered in black hot-glue. - - - - - - - update 1/24/07 Got the other Crown 4000 today and a crossover to go with it. Heres the pics and a little video of the subs movin some. I had to stop bumpin it was ripping my garage up. Vid is mainly of one tower because everything kept falling down. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/meade916/chickens%20towers/DSC08146.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/meade916/chickens%20towers/DSC08147.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/meade916/chickens%20towers/th_chickenssubs.jpg . . . . update 1/29/07 Heres some pics of the rack i got for all the stuff. LSN2meBoom916
4-15's in the EXT...18's in the Lade...and four more 15's in the house. Chicken sounds like my kinda guy. I pray I can "play" at that level some day. I have 2 Kicker 12's in my house getting 120w rms each and THATs pretty loud for an HT setup...but my place is tiny...so it makes sense:I'm sure Chickens house is ganksta big thus so should be his HT setup. BTW Steve-Did you design those ported boxes using BassBox pro or other software? I only ask cuz I'm curious to try out the "HOME" environment setting on BBp and see if it works like it says it does to compensate for the acoustic gains/troubles of a larger area. I know boxes I've built for home audio/car cabins DON'T perform the same in each others domain. ~2cents Quote COOGLE SAID:"bro thats how we got where we are... buy making messes ...... i still learn all the time you just gota be willing to ruck up some shit" "In order to attain the impossible, one must attempt the absurd." ~ Miguel de Unamuno"One machine can do the work of fifty ordinary men, but no machine can do the work of one extraordinary man" -Elbert Hubbard"A proud man can learn humility...but he will be proud of that too" ~I forget who.I'm far from perfect and I know it better than anyone, but I hope to be good at what I do, when I do it...Installs I've done:My Integra: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...?showtopic=3161The Lexus : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...?showtopic=1535Law's Maxima: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...ic=5568&hl=Jeff's 2500HD: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...ic=5382&hl=Acura RSX-S: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...?showtopic=3142Z-32 300zx: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...?showtopic=34602004 Civic 4dr: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...?showtopic=8190Trunk/Corner Box: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...c=16036&hl=1969 Chevy C-10: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...c=20319&hl=Seat-Back AMP-RACK How-to: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...ic=9428&hl=Bunch of subs still for salehttp://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...l=lsn2meboom916"It's game night...we're playin......sex."~Quagmire"When disneyland started it was powered completely by orphan children running on treadmills to generate e-lectrissty…and today, them children are New York Yankees". ~Dale Gribble"Fill it with ice...then pour it up to the top of the ice...& Shut da Fu** up!" ~Urs truly. Forevrbumpn
Man, I love home audio, maybe more than Car audio, but holey shit, 4000+ watts in a house, and 15s tuned at 27hz? I garuntee he will be busting windows left and right. Home windows have Nothing on car windows, they tend to just shatter in place, and fall right out the window sill. Better hope he replaces his windows in his WHOLE house with Plexi anti shatter, shock resistant panels. Quote I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
