Direct Question To Mr. Meade

Firstly, I'd like to express my appreciation of Meade and his systems. I've been watching Meade's videos these past few weeks, and they are ridiculous! I showed the "hairtrick" one to my classmates and they were going crazy! Mad props to you, my man; you know how to get it done.

But now a question to the man himself: After listening to all those tunes at 140-150 dB, are you going deaf? Certainly it must have hurt your hearing somewhat.

well Im not steve but I talk to him all the time and he hears everything I say without me having to raise my voice in the slightest. IMO no his hearing is fine. Distortion will cause more hearing loss than just loud clear music.

Cool, and now another question, because I'm basically a newbie in this whole subwoofer world. How hard would it be to get, say, two 15's installed? I have a Subaru Legacy Wagon so it has plenty of room in the trunk. Could I just get like Best Buy or whoever to do it?

two 15's wouldnt be hard. but you have to be careful of the extra power you are adding to the cars electrical system. a stock alternator can only handle so much. anything at around 1000 watts and under i would say is safe. but i would upgrade the battery and do the 'big 3' nonetheless. also...start small. if you are shy to install it yourself, then yeah best buy/circuit city may be the best. then you can see how it's done and go from there and learn how to install yourself. i say start small cuz chances are you will mess with things...wiring, gain sets, etc...and will blow somethin up. like just about everyone when they start out. at least till they start to learn the more technical side of things (ohms, ohm loads, different wiring options with the given voice coils). so it's better off to ruin something small and cheap than something big and expensive. work your way up to the big and expensive things and you wont have to worry about messing them up.

btw...did you have any certain 15's in mind?

I'd have to say HELL NO to best buy/circut city... but ya if your shy to install yourself start checkin out shops around your area.. Ask to see the systems there workin on and get a quote...

No, I didn't have any particular 15's in mind. What would you consider the best "bang-for-your-buck" 15 incher?

Everyone has they're own preference but i think the actually best bang for your buck is Kicker CVRS... Just depends how much you wanna spend... If you wanna spend more theres always Fi, DC, RE, ect...

i think my hearing is fine.....my ears actually ring more when i listen to metal at higher levels. Them damn screaming guitars seem to do more damage then low frequency bass IMO.
