bought my amp new online, ZX1500.1 through a kicker authorized dealor, brand new, not B stock.

hooked it up the first time... didn't work, sent it in

got it back, hooked it up, ran for 45 minutes, cut out, didn't work, shipped it back same day i recieved it

got it back again today, ran it for probably close to 45 min to 1 hour, thing cut out again.

i called today bitched my brainzzz out, and the lady that took all my info for my return/warranty fix said she understands why i'm frustrated and wrote in the notes for the return to send me a new amp.

we can hope ha, i've had everything hooked up for no more than 2 hours, and i bought this thing on august 1st, it's litterally been in the back of a ups truck sense then.

i'm pretty fed up with this, and always thought kicker was a good company, i can't ever see myself purchasing there stuff in the future, although i must say i'm glad everything's warrantied and they are taking care of it... well not really fixing anything, but they can think they're doing something ha

anyone else had anything like this happen???

Kicker is a good company. Not everyone company is perfect with their audio gear. Then again, it could always be user error. :) I've had many a Kicker products with only a few mishaps. (Tinsel leads breaking on 02L7) At least they are helping you right away and sending you an entirely new amp. Best of luck to you...

What online dealer did you buy from?

I had the same problem with an RF amp when I had the 4 1000 bds. every time I went to turn it on it went poof. send it in month later poof send it in get it back poof. Thought it was where i had it installed. switched amps around same amp poof. I sold them before I ever got to run all four at once.

that's what i though, but look at what i'm seeing, this is the third time i've had to send it back... dont remember what was wrong with it first time, but the last reason was 'cracked capacitor' and then the part number for what they replaced...

i've thought about user error but nothing's wrong... gain is properly set, bass boost was no more than a quarter up, pushing like 14.2-14.5 volts... i've run other amps in my car with no problems also, and i've hooked my zx1500 up in other cars and it just doesn't work

i mean if something goes out on it, and they fix it and it works good, i'm happy, but everytime i send it in, it's 3 weeks... and this is the third time...

and like we both said, i'm glad they're helping and talking to me... but nothing's getting done, and i'm not happy til i get an amp that works flawlessly haha

got it

i had the local kicker authorized dealor install, and we've pulled the wires out, and put everything back in, nothing's shorting out, power goes to the amp fine, just no output...

i think it's the amp... they keep fixing, and sending me back the same one. i'm saying it's a bad amp. (period) and they should just send me another, or just one that works, it's something internally with the amp

Im pretty sure that if it is from an autorized dealer and under warrenty when you send them a broken amp in, they reboard it. So its like getting a new amp everytime in the same heatsink. Same as how RF does their warrenty program.

What ohm are the speaker coils, and how do you have them wired?

Its only a 2 ohm stable amp, after a constant beating on the amp, for 20 minutes like your saying could blow it, esp if your electrical is not up to par (big 3, alt, rear battery).

Seems like these amps are working fine for your 20-45 minute periods.

What headunit you using?

What is your gain set at?

How many subs and coil configureation?

Sounds like user error somewhere in here.

chea, everytime i ship it in, i get it back in a new factory refurbished box, blah blah, straight from kicker. like last time they had to swap out the part number c17-1mf, they're doing something evertime but it's still reoccurring

sub is one 15" L7 4 ohm, wired to 2 ohms, i know how the kicker amps work, headunit is in my sig

Are you sure its not a whole new pc board?

I know tons of people that fried kicker amps, and like i said they just take the old board out and put a new one in it. less time consuming, and cheaper.

If it happened 3 times, i dont think its the amp.

Its maybe how it is setup, if your blowing capacitors (i think c17-1mf is a capacitor), there maybe a problem with your amps power supply.

otherwise you might have some bunk RCA cords ran in your car, maybe they are messing up somehow.

What about your sub coils? Do they read fine and rest at one ohm, and not jump around when you read them on a dmm. If your coils dont hold a constant number your sub could be frying the amp. I just had that happen recently.

Id really try some new rca cords since they are cheap and not hard to replace. Maybe find a better ground or make sure you have the best conductivity possible.
