RamenNoodles
Kinda funny how at Carlisle the Ohio Gen and American Bass Van did a 168 on 1 hifonics maxximus 18" to about 11k rms. Usually is run with 20k but he was having some problems that day. Diablo Audio Technologies Fi Car Audio Ascendant Audio
Boon
Mmm Alan Dante's concrete Volvo did 180.6 off a single DD 9918Z and 28kw. That thing you linked to isn't actually a speaker - it's a high pressure air horn, basically. It has a modulated flow of extremely high pressure air into a wave guide... it's basically a giant trumpet and works on exactly the same principles. It's also not legal for dbdrag because it doesn't use a regular magnet/voice coil design and I don't think they can play music. Still pretty cool though The military has done some experiments with infrasonic horns built on the same principles, I was reading somewhere about one that could flex a house 6+ inches at 12hz or thereabouts. 10.x volts fo' life! Dr. Johnson
I realize there are real woofers doing higher than the 165 in this article but there is some funny stuff in this article. In a class I had a few years ago I did research on the navy using a speaker type apparatus the size of a bathtub to "talk " to whales. The out put was below 10 hz I do not remember much other than it was a ridiculous frequency and a very high sound level in the water. I hope you find this article to be as interesting as I did. Have a great night. D
