One Run Or Two..

I have a question.

Currently, my truck is wired from the front with Stinger 1/0 wire to the back 2 batteries (Odyssey 2150)

However, my new amp has two power inputs and outputs. I was thinking about just running another power straight from the back battery to the second power input but I am wondering if the single run from the hood will be enough to charge the batteries in the back or do I need to run a second run?

I will be using dual stock 150amp alternators with an MLA module.

well if amp is pushing over 3500rms and has two 1/0 power and ground inputs then i'd do two runs of 1/0. one run of 1/0 is good for around 3500 rms

Even if the 1 run from the hood is just charging the rear batteries?

its going to be pushing 5000rms

yes.

no mater how many rear batteries you have in the back, a 2nd,3rd,4th run of wire will always lower your resistance. you will have less voltage drop from the front battery compaired to the back battery. I think about one 20 foot run of 1/0 gauge wire will be about .10 volts different from front to back. In many competition cars this makes a huge difference. It gets costly adding all that extra wire, but it only helps your electrical system out that much more.

Also running a ground from front battery to rear batteries is very helpful too.

But make sure you run both Positives and negatives for the amp to your rear battery bank. Then run however many runs of wire you want from front battery to rear battery.

more wire = less resistance = more power

so your saying its better to run a ground from the front to the back as well? currently I have just the positive from the front going to the back and the batteries are grounded to a bolt in the back. It would work better to ground it from the front?

most people only do the + run from front battery to rear battery(s) and others do two runs (one + and the other -) from front battery to rear battery(s). i myself have one run of each (+ and -) and to wrap up things you can always still ground the back batteries to the frame for extra grounding or just ground the back batteries...........

you will see an improvement running the ground from the back battery to the front

yea, it really depends on the power you are running tho, and where you draw that overkill line

I extra ground from front to back is nott really needed tho, but it helps with electricity flow, and lowers resistance just that much more.

The last car I built has 4 runs of 1/0 positive from front to back, and then 4 runs of 1/0 negative from front to back. 8 total runs of 1/0 wiring from front to back.

Then we connected all the runs to the 2 massive rear batteries.

I bought the wire to do 3 runs pos and 3 runs negative from front to back, but someone broke into my garage and jacked it on me before I got around to doing it. :(

Ive seen some competitor cars like little honda crx's and because the class they compete in the only can have 1 battery and it has to be the same physical size of the stock battery for the car, and then these people run 10 runs of 1/0 gauge wiring for pos, and another 10 runs for neg just to some buss bars in the rear which their amps are hooked up too (no rear battery).
