sealing off my trunk - PICS!! (UPDATED 1/15: COMPLETED)

Recommended Posts

thanks guys!! hopefully it will come out like i imagined it. i saw a guy use dowel rods and fiberglass in his folded horn box, to get the horn part of it...thats where i got the idea from...really cant think of any other way of doing it besides glassing over the struts inside and make a form from that...didnt feel like doing that though..

I guess that anwser my Pm to you Amatt85. Looks good. I don;t think mine will be that hard. My seat doesn't fold down. and there already is a nice big whole in the back prt. and it pretty much sealed up, except for teh top part and some of the sides. I'll take a picture when i get back home and post it on my thread.

but that looks great...excellent job so far.The only thing Id say to do differently is.When you got your dowells set up maybe go over them with cardboard ,cut to shape. and layers of masking tape. This will give you a nice smooth foundation to lay the glass down on....But looking great so far..

good tip next time i do anymore glassing, which may be in a few months on a friends truck...hopefully with some serious body putty and sanding, they will come out smoth enough to hide any imperfections with carpet...

they will, scuff em with 36 grit, slop a coat of Duraglass on there, hit it in the green stage with 36 to knock it down to shape.

and wrap it in carpet..

the loctite superglue i was using was holding really good...nothing really came loose...the only time it did is when i tried to glue over a spot that already had glue on it...apparently that glue doesnt like to stick to itself. but none of it ever broke even though i was pulling away trying to get my fingers loose...lol. i was really impressed with it...i'll see if i can find some CA glue at a craftstore though for some comparison one day...
