Memphisman Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 I have a 1985 chevy silverado. single cab. i would like to enclose the bed and put 4 subwoofers in it, and most likely 3 amps pushing around 2500-3000 watts rms. should i add a second alternator? and second battery? i have a few questions To enclose the bed which would be the best sounding option? something like a tonneau cover? or actually seal the entire bed? and what would be the best way to go about that? as far as getting the sound into the cab, would it be best to make like a port vent into the cab? or another way? i am looking to do alot of the work myself, and just trying to get an guesstimate on total cost of all this
Toxiccasper Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 Search for some blowthroughs and it will answer most of your questions
Memphisman Posted November 19, 2008 Author Report Posted November 19, 2008 im just lookin what would be the best sounding option to it, now im guessing a blowthrough would be just like a port into the cab right?
HHR Ed Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 im just lookin what would be the best sounding option to it, now im guessing a blowthrough would be just like a port into the cab right? best sound can be accomplished by using a camper shell and then doing a full blow through, turning it into an SUV basically. But you can also use a tonneau and a half blow through below the window line. Guest Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 pushing around 2500-3000 watts rms.should i add a second alternator? and second battery? god yes, maybe like a 150-200amp alt and a deep cycle battery up front and 1 in the back. all 0 gauge around, Big 3 under the hood oopd, didnt read that carefully, you dont need a second alternator but your regular alternator should be around 150-200amps
Memphisman Posted November 19, 2008 Author Report Posted November 19, 2008 ok if im only using 1 alternator, would i run it to charge both batterys? i would like to keep it with something like a tonneau cover, instead of like a topper.. big 3 under the hood? so a blowthrough will be joining the cab and the bed? through like a ported weatherproof connection..
