Advice Being Given...

Recommended Posts

I will second the OP. I hate noticed a lot of newer guys doing so and when I read what they say, I say to myself Wtf and just leave the thread.

I've been told inverting the woofers will cut the power handling in half and blow them faster.

i think its something that will always be around. Build, Test, Learn then tell others what you learned in the garage.

(assuming I'm/your/they're competent)

this seems like the most intellectual and mature discussion ive ever seen on this board

i only suggested that UTFSN thing because ive been on quite a few forums where any simple question where the poster could get the answer was replied to by a mod with RTFM (read the f*n manual) and it was locked

but honestly, i feel like a lot of the questions could be answered by the OP's manual, people asking stuff like "what size box should i build for my fi btl18"...theres a nice little post already stickied in the FI board that gives tuning and volume and such.

or stuff like will this sub and this amp in this car hit 149deebeez!? and everyone replies with soemthing like "no way to tell, build it and see"

i just think that some of the dumbest questions can be answered by the person who posted just by thinking for a few minutes, and it makes it that much harder to get a legitimate question asked because the experienced people are explaining how to convert inches to feet

Sure people need to search things such as "what is an ohm" and such questions. But a lot of times when some one asks "will this amp work for me" or "is this sub louder" people are saying Hey, I want to talk car audio. The old lady doesn't know squat about it. They aren't asking so they can get chewed out.

This is what bugs me and by no means am I flaming you ray. I can't help but feel the some people on here have gotten to a level were they feel like they don't have to answer questions. If you can take two seconds to post a use the search thingy, you can take the time to answer a question. So what if its been asked 5 million times.... If you have a love for this hobby or what ever you want to call it, answer the questions. I look for the higher level people, I want to know what they think. One of my first questions on here was answered by David, and the way he answered it i will never forget it. I think the big dogs need to get back to answering the basic questions, its what made this forum the best. An if your not going to answer the question don't post something stupid.

takes the same time for me to delete the repost, i guess i'll just do that for now on.

love for the hobbu has little to do with helping someone who wants it all on a silver platter with all the fixins.

im pretty unsure whom your talking about as big dogs . Ive been here a little while and nothings changed in the aspect of people helping, pretty much the same helping hands as the first place are still here. but why write a review or tutorial to anything if nobodys going to use it. Reposting the same stuff over and over makes a board "retarded" for lack of better wording. Feel free to disagree with me, i dont mind at all , just the way i feel about it.

9 times out of 10, when someone comes in here asking"is a 12inch l7 or a boston g5 12 a better sub" therye going to get a guy with an l7 in their car say its loud and takes power, someone who has used boston say it works great in small boxes and has great sq, then someone asks what theyre trying to do, how much room, what amp, etc...i feel like if you read one or two and have google those questions could be solved in a matter of seconds by knowing what the forum will ask, and what they would reccomend.

it does come down to this is a car audio forum and it will be discussed incessantly, whether mundane, amazing, or annoying

going back to the reason this thread exists, a be helpful or get out policy perhaps? something like the no dumping in f/s thread policy? if a question is posed, answer it or dont post anything?

and i agree with you james wholeheartedly, its hard to skim through and learn if 50% of the posts are either the same thing or a flamewar on a dumb question that should never have been asked

i dont post anything cuz i know my advise will be bad most of the time. but i think a topic should have to be approved before it shows up. if its not approved then the person should get a reasonable answer on why it wasnt approved. i know its more work for the mods but it could help the forum and another mod could be added to help out with this

lol hell no. if you knew the amount of moderating needed here as is what your proposing would require at the least 2 full time mods. and it also makes a forum very "pain in the ass" to be a part of, somethign im sure steve doesnt want

what about a new section for just any questions about car audio. now matter how easy the question is, you cant flame the person. you may not get your question answered as quick as if you put it in general audio but you wont be flamed for it being a upid quesion b/c you put it in the newbs car setion.

Once or twice I have missed having a back seat / rear hatch, but all in all people love to see a walled vehcile. It just screams "i'm not fucking around with my setup, im loud"
