Cone Area Vs. Port?

Recommended Posts

i need some help, i have a 1991 ford ranger ext. cab and can't decide what sub set up to do, both will be powered by 2) rf t40001bd amps.

12- 12" fi ssd or dc lvl3 sealed

or

4-15" fi btl or dc lvl5 ported

will the extra cone area make up for the lack of port? what will sound better? i want more of a street beater/demo system. thanks.

It really depends of the install and the tuning of the port..now if it was a straight SPL i would lean towards the 4 15's because you could wall them and tune them around 50hz or higher..now if it was a daily driver and wanted loud low end bass(32-33hz and down) i would do the 12 12's sealed.. its really up to you and what your tryin to do...

I ust notice you said you wan a street beater/demo system..i would do the 12 12's

i would say the 12s would hold up better for demoing because of the heat on the coils would be better dispersed so you could play longer
