Dd 1508s Who Has Ran Them

Recommended Posts

just curious who daily bumped them. I have two on the way for christmas and going to put them in the daily. Ive been playing with the port and anything under like 38 hz results in a stupid long port with lots of bending. what has actually worked for you? Im figuring on 2 cubes total after port and woofer displacement and tuned to 38 to 40 hz. with these being 8s I really dont think ill lose alot of low end. Good thing its a hatch I should be able to get em into the low 40s :D

Ive done 0.9cf box, tuned to 38hz, port firing in to a huge open flare, and it played very well to 30hz and lower

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

the shop owner who i work for has 2 of the 1508's in a 2 cube box tuned to 40 hertz powered by an M80 in his scion. and theyre stupid loud for 8;s.

we also did a lexus IS350 i think it was and did 2 cubes tuned to 30 hertz and it would knock ya head down on the lows.

they really start to shine with 1000 RMS from what i hear.

Well the only thing that sucks is the stupid long port. I have an idea to make it work but its something ive never done. once I've got it drawn up ill post it up to see what everyone thinks.

Dwright. Are you talking about 1000 per driver or total? Ive got an orion 2500d ill run at 4 ohms to start with. I can always see if they like more juice lol

TBH I don't see them surviving on 1000wrms for long. Sure they're a beefy driver for an 8 but there just isn't enough voice coil in there to take it.

Plus the box would have to be tiny to control the excursion ;/

500w each though, hell yeah :D

thats the plan they should be getting around 1200 off teh orion to start. althoguh with the electrical sucking it may be a little less lol
