That is one metric assload of moving mass for a sub. I bet it will perform much worse than it's 22" round counterpart, and that was lackluster at best.

My System:

Pioneer AVH-P3200BT

4-Dayton 7 inch reference series (front doors)

8-Onkyo 3/4 inch tweeters (dash)

1-Sundown Audio 100.4D (mids/highs)

2-18" BTL's (for now)

Crescendo 3kwp (for sale)

Complete rebuild coming soon...

probably has the same cone area as a 26'' Cirlce sub

24" square 24 x 24 = 576sqin

26" circle (26/2)pi x 13^2 = 530.92sqin

27" = ~572sqin

I was close!

someone did try in dB Drag.

The sub motor isnt strong enough to push the heavy cone and stiff suspension.

Couldnt even break 150 dB

I could get louder with 2 12s.

if your talking about who i think your talking about, you must also remember that guy is a complete tool. that enclosure was a total joke.

i would love to get a hold of one of these. with the right build it would probably change a lot of peoples minds.

It's a real shame, I absolutely love large diaphragm speakers. Turbosound 21's in large horns were great when you used them like they were supposed to, which these designers have forgotten. Large diaphragm drivers have a large diaphragm so to move a large amount of air with little cone movement. Thus, you could design the loudspeaker to be incredibly responsive, effecient and have great linearity without sacrificing pressure.

This thing is just a big lump of scrap. It took many many tries to get the full Theile/Small parameters for the older driver and really, when you do, it's nothing special at all.

Cheers,

Mick
