Always pre-drill where your screws will be going also, MDF splits EASY. Just my input. With threads all the way up as you reach the point where the head is compressed against the countersink, as it pulls all it is doing is tearing the threads out of the top board therfore making it a looser pull. if that makes any sense to you camino...
