loopkiller
LOL...It isn't actually. Why would you say that. He already owns it and it will charge his battery without any worries. The only alternator that you should NOT charge your battery with is a dead one.
Snoopy-Bass
How is one 3 step intelligent charger better than another? I see the powermaster does 16 volt batteries too but if you never plan on doing 16 volts why spend $299?

I see the powermaster does 16 volt batteries too but if you never plan on doing 16 volts why spend $299? Aside from the specific charging algorithim the 1005 uses to best charge our line of AGM batteries, it also has additional settings to properly charge flooded, gel and other types of AGM batteries including Optimas and many others. In addition to the three voltage level options, it can also charge in three different amperage modes for charger small, medium and large sized batteries or banks. The 1005 can also be paralleled together to charge large banks of batteries more quickly. Of course, it does all this for 16v batteries too Quote XS POWER Batteries, Chargers & Accessories 888-4XS-POWER

The three stage chargers I have seen all look to have a constant current, constant voltage and a float mode.

The only alternator that you should NOT charge your battery with is a dead one. If his batteries are not anywhere near full charged, like that are when you get them in the mail, then it isn't a good idea to let the alt charge it. The alt would be over-worked and potentially fry. It even says in the brochure that comes with these batteries that you need to charge them before you throw them under the hood...fyi Quote "IT SOUNDS SLOW MOTION AND STUTTERING"~~~~LOL 2 15" Fi BTLs 7.5 cf box @ 33hz Sundown SAZ-3500D Powermaster S3400 & D3100 Iraggi 300a alt SecondSkin - totally dead Knu wire

I have never seen a battery draw that much current that it would "over-work" the alt.
