alvitae Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 I had an installer mention something about the ohms in the preouts the other day. Did I mis hear him or is that something to be aware of?

ISO Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 I'm going to bed but I have to say after 14 years of working with this shit. I was very shocked moving over to a line driver. Hey if you got a head unit that puts out alot of volts great but I got another thing to talk about but since I fucked up trying to write once. That means its bed time. Isobaric - Refers to the practice of coupling two drivers together to make them act as one. "Giving up doesn't always mean you are weak; sometimes it means that you are strong enough to let go." dwright27 Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 the pheonix gold line drivers say it has THD 0.02% isnt 0.01% the most you should have? or can you even tell the diffrence? you could probably push the THD to .3 and not be able to audibly tell. 2006 F-150 4 DC XL M2 18's Walled Daily Driver XS Power 4 DC 3.5kw Team DC Team S.P.L. Beanz Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 ^^^ triple post FTL lol but it's true that if you get a better pre voltage signal you dont have to turn the gains up that much in order to get that bad ass sound you had in your older stereo. my friend always have to turn up his gains on this stereo to get a good bass while i dont even have to touch anything and i stilll beat him. That's why they don't deliver. Yer ass better go sit along the side of the road and wait. You can't expect them to travel up some dirt road in a hick / back woods town. Thats how horror movies start I explain things very simply and use analogies in terms of Pickles, and grape drink, pool noodles and jackhammers...if you can't put 2 and 2 together there man, There simply is not much more I can do.
Boon Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 you could probably push the THD to .3 and not be able to audibly tell. Heh, get a copy of My Disc and try the THD tracks On my reference headphone setup I still struggle to hear anything different even up to about 2% THD IIRC. On a sub I doubt you would hear 5%. 10.x volts fo' life!

Kicker Guy Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 I had an installer mention something about the ohms in the preouts the other day. Did I mis hear him or is that something to be aware of? This is true actually. The lower the ohm the cleaner the sound. The old eclipse decks the had 8v preouts @ 4 ohm were pure sex.
