Yeah i scraped the ground location, but it doesnt fasten down as good as i thought it would. Any Suggestions? I was just gonna take it to my Local Shoplock washer my friend American Bass*DC Power
roscoe1129 Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 i doubt it man. i honestly think port noise is a myth cause ive built boxes with only 1" of port width with 0 noise. IVE NEVER had port noise. you wouldnt know port noise if reached up and grabbed you by your jinglehangles.......port noise is NOT a myth!!! Air turbulence at the mouth of the small diameter port causes "port noise" and bass output losses up to 3dB. A loss of 3dB means that half of the amplifier power being used for bass reproduction is wasted by air turbulence! you need to stop talking so much especially to new members who dont know any better. To the O.P. research who your taking advice from, it may save you a grip of time in the future. as for your ground, careful in that location your not punturing anything under the car. Then you can use a larger diameter screw in the same hole, or seal that one up with some Auto body seam sealer bought at any parts store for less than $10.00. So far so good just look into a wider port man. You may not hear the noise in the trunk but its there and not helping one bit. loganberry Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 another build, starting fine till dwrong got involved, now its a fucking story book nice car, i love the way the dash kit and deck look, looks like it was ment to be there...the port looks a lil small to me like eric has said, port noise may occur (i hope it dosnt for your sake). Cant wait to see a finish product My F-150 Build GET ON THE BANDWAGON what if they tried messing with the amps when the subs werent louder hahah jk

raytard Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 port noise occurs mostly at higher volumes so a good sub like that FI you got there, beating with all that wattage moving a shitton of air may very well give you turbulence, and you will hear it in the form of whooshing for lack of a better term if you open your trunk and listen at a higher volume at lower volume, or with junkier subs, it doesnt matter, because they arent moving enough air fast or far enough to cause turbulence, thats why those nice little prefabs with kicker comps or rockford p1's off 200 watts dont make port noise. if its in your trunk, and you're in the car, you probably wont hear it, so dont worry, just something to consider for your next box. Try to keep the port as square as possible, the longer and thinner it gets, the more likely you are to have port noise.
