Forevrbumpn Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 Well, I might have started a little prematurely on my door panels. I want a lot of sound from the front with great imaging. I went right off the bat and cut off the bottom of the panels assuming I will just glass the bottom halves. What a mistake. Not like I already started getting all crazy with the doors. I already finished the read doors. I just took the grills, and used some rings I made to mount the mid and tweet, glued that to the grill, wrapped the grill with grill cloth then added fiberglass cloth- just thin stuff. Then a final layer of grill cloth. Done, and finished each one in about 1 hr, maybe 1.5hrs for the 2. I carpeted the rear door pods because I bought vinyl to wrap over the carpet, but now seeing how the pod is so close, well, pressing against the seat, I' am pissed. I don't feel I really wasted anything. Just fun little pods I made . I guess my question is, if anyone knows this, do the door panels from the late 2000 GMC, yukon, suburban, tahoe fit on the early model 2000 doors? I assume everything will match up See, the difference is, the late model has the vertical speaker components that are more fwd of the door, not at the bottom corner of the panel Here are the differences....... Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

B Slaps Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 i would have just covered the grill for the door panel in a material and cut holes in those. there should be enough room in the door. i dont think those panels are interchangable. if i am correct, i think the window switches on the drivers doors are in different positions. ill try and post a few pics of the different panels. your best bet would be to call the chevy yard on sunrise right by my work. Forevrbumpn Posted March 3, 2009 Author Report Posted March 3, 2009 thanks B I took the door panel off, and realized just how flat, and easy it will b to just build full off custom panels Something plain, smooth, and just simple Ive done door panels before that were on much more difficult panels, after taking a really good look at this, I think I can pull off a full door panel rebuild, ground up. What I really want to do is 2- 5.5" component sets (the ones in the back doors x's 2) along with 2- 6.5" mid bass, or possibly atleast 1- 8" midbass I just started working again, so when I get some time, I will start on this, and see what I can whip up I have a ritual called "terminator". No.. .lol So I may have to build a new center console, and do all 4 doors, and the barn doors in the back? If I can talk Chris from Gatley to hooking me up in vinyling the doors, then I will be set. If I cant get him to vinyl the doors, I will just tweed them I guess The switches, and door lights I will just do some custom stuff with. Seems every job I get, I' am stuck doing a lot of electrical modifications, so shouldn't be a problem just mounting all the window, and door lock switches in the center console, or in the door, with out that horrible woodgrain trim. I will just need to clean my garage, so I can clean out my truck, strip it down, to where I have nothing in there so I can wire everything up I have a ritual called "terminator". All I need to do is build a base panel, a connecting point to the dash, make that match, the upper triangle area where it blends in to the A pillar, a trim piece for the door handle, and speaker rings I' am definitely stuck on this now, I' am kinda stoked now I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
