i tried using my scope. had it calibrated and all. and i go out to hook everything up and i'm playing my 50 hz test tone, and i see the nice curvy wave, so i turned the game up and the wave got narrower and narrower, but it never squared off. i had that gain just about all the way up just to see if i could square it off but it never did. do i have a setting wrong? or...?

Did you check what kind of output signal your head unit was putting out. If your H/U isn't clipping, then there is a chance you could have a combination of equipment like a h/u that does 5 volts clean even at max and an amp that can take 8 volts I don't think you could clip the amp outputs. (thats wrong) maybe an amp that can take 6 volt.

Are you useing a line driver?

I have a H/U that the subwoofer output won't clip at all and does 4.65 volts and have the oposite, I own alot of amps that won't take more than 3 volts of input.

Yank the RCA's out of the sub amp and connect to the center pin and ground it at the circle and find out what your output signal looks like from your H/U.

I only use the scope with the amp set as close to full-range as possible. (Shut down all proccing on the amp)

Thats where I got mine at and have had no probblems. Very satisfied customer.

Got mine in Monday.. I had already set the amps with a scope i borrowed from the university but I wanted my own and figured I would give this a try. Reset both my amps tonight, very user friendly. :clapping: Great unit for such a low price ($160 shipped for me). Definitely the most important tool ive needed in my toolbox for a lonnng time :good:

Thanks to the people who found this and recommended it. Also thanks to Boon's write ups as well as ISOs write up and post on page 4.

I played with mine a bit yesterday and got things sounding much better. I didn't have it calibrated then though  so I will have to do stuff again. The only thing I got to was checking the signal from my HU, EQs, and Xover. Didn't do the output from the amps yet, so no biggie. All I know is with the uncalibrated testing and quick knob turning I did on the processors- any and all hiss or previous noise (however small) is now gone. With all of the gains on the amps all the way down, the sound is much better and still pretty damn loud. It is impressive. Hopefully I will get to play for a while tomorrow. ....oh noes, time to play with new tools and settings on the stereo. B)

The wifey just doesn't get it.... but I really love my new toy.
