well i had a cerwinvega vmax 15 layin around that some kid said that he blew.. so he gave it to me..

well checking the coils.. they were still around 4 ohms.. so upon further fidgiting. i found that the magnet busted loose..

so i pulled it off and the voice coil is still intact.. and suprisingly the former and pole peice are anodized black. which i thought was nice.. not to mention the magnet is double stacked. but i was dissapointed to see that the magnet was just glued onto the ring thats between it and the basket..

so heres my question.. can i repair it? what adhesive do i use? i can cut the dust cap off and roll up some construction paper on the inside to space the voice coil off the pole..

your out of luck bro

you need to find someone with a magnet charger, and have them DE-Mag the motor, then recenter/shim, and glue, the re-charge

no way around that

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

well, if you can some how get a wedge of something in the gap, to get the top plate to center, you might be able to epoxy the outside of the magnet to the top plate, or backplate, wherever it shifted from, maybe

but I bet anything your gap will still be crooked, and might just shift back again

even a small motor like that probably still wants to pull with about 100lbs straight to that pole piece

Actually I fixed an American Bass Vfl 10 that the same thing happened to. I used some JB weld that was the 4 minute drying kind. I put it on the mag and then attempted to center it best without actually shimming it. What I did was push down on the cone to see if the former was hitting the pole. When I got it centered the best I could I left it to dry. Then it was off to test tones and the sub held up just fine. It was in my wife's car for a couple of months before I sold it to a kid I worked with. If I had it to do over again I would probably used 5 minute epoxy.

Spend $4 and give it a shot, if you happen to get it centered you've got yourself a woofer. I've got some pics I'll post up here in a minute of the repair.

Edit for pics:

Finished ready to go back into the box for testing.

You can see that the bolts that held the mag in place origionally broke off and the JB weld held pretty damn good after that.

I don't really understand exactly what his issue is. But I have an MT Destroyer that when I went to lift the motor from the basket, the pole vent shifted and grabbed on to the magnet.I can't get it centered again for the life of me cuz the magnet is too strong. Is this what he is talking about and that's why you're advising him that the magnet needs to be de-magnetized???? If not what do you advise for my issue??

lol they wont replace it free, i have a few family members that work at CV in florida (aunt and uncle) hell i blew a tweet on one of my e715s and factory cost was 29 bucks for just the plastic piece that goes over the tweet then i had to get the tweet and new assembly screws because i lost them.

they will charge shipping both ways as well as factory refurb cost on a replacement one, since they wont warranty anything thats not registered through the original owner.
