slugdub
LOL, I just bought this stuff for $36 and someone pointed out its only copper clad: http://cgi.ebay.com/KnuKonceptz-KLM-4-Gaug...%3A1|240%3A1318 So how many amps is this going to hold? I was desperate looking for help finding good wire and I thought that the Knu brand was going to mean quality.. plus the cross sections looked phatty (despite being a little tinny in appearance). God damn Aluminum. I wonder if it comes with a tube of that special grease that I have to smear everywhere to prevent water getting at it. I knew I shoulda just bought a $60 kit, oh well, I saved like a whole $25 and I'm going to have to redo it someday if I get a bigger amp. I doubt any 6-700 watt amp is going to pull more than 60A at 17' right?

bumonskateboard6
That wire's fine for your application, won't be drawing enough current to cause any damage. Low voltage doesn't blow amps. That's a myth. A router that does the sub holes makes rounded edges also?

slugdub
believe its rated at 250a Isn't that what it says for the 0/1 gauge? I was confused by that press release. Maybe I am paranoid, but cutting corners seems to save time or $$ now and cause trouble down the road. Plus I never thought about the effect that fatter wire is going to have on hooking it up. I would hate to have wire spilling out the sides of the terminal on my battery & @ the damn amp.

You are fine with that wire.... its not going to affect you at all. Knu CCA rates at 250 amp and their copper at 300 amps. I wouldn't worry about it at all. slugdub
x2 man, quit sweatin it. You're set. LOL, well I'm sure to be better off than running 656w on that rockford 8gauge i got now, and thats 100% copper I can't even believe I was going to try that. I'm sure nothing would happen, but the amp would have to feel it.
